Why I started Inclusive Islanders

18 July 2026 · Rosalie

When I finished university and moved back to Guernsey, I was so happy to be home. What I did not expect was how much I would miss student life. Not the deadlines, but the societies, and the easy way you meet people when everyone is turning up to try something new.

Back on the island, a lot of my friends had moved away, and making new connections as a young adult felt harder than it should. I kept thinking there had to be other people my age feeling the same way.

So I started Inclusive Islanders. The idea was simple. Make a friendly, low-pressure club where young islanders can meet people, try new things, and feel part of something close to home.

We began with a few morning swims and a lot of coffee. Since then it has grown into a proper community, and most weeks someone new tells me they were nervous to come along and are so glad they did.

If you have been looking for your people in Guernsey, this is your invitation. Come and say hi.
